Dust to dust (2016)

NE:

'Dust to dust' gaat over hoe om ons heen tijd alles richting stof, de uiteindelijke staat,schuift en hoe dat onze perceptie kleurt . Omdat we dit weten, hangt er altijd een schaduw van tijdelijkheid over de beelden in onze gedachten.

Met andere woorden, het gaat over een herinnering aan mijn moeder, die een nieuw,

perfect gestapeld en geordend pakje met vouwblaadjes voor me kocht. Daar genoot ik van, maar tegelijkertijd wist ik dat ik het pakje zou openen ( aanbreken) en dan zou de harmonie en puurheid van dat perfecte stapeltje verstoord zijn. De wetenschap dat dat zou gaan gebeuren schuurde altijd een beetje tegen het genot van dat nieuwe pakje en dat dubbele gevoel is nooit helemaal verdwenen.

EN:

'Dust to dust' is about how time shifts everything around us towards dust, the final state, and how that colors our perception.  Because we know, there always is a shadow of transience in the pictures of our minds. 

In other words, it is about the memory I have of my mother buying me a new, perfectly stacked and arranged package of folding paper. I really enjoyed that, but at the same time I knew that I would open the package and then the harmony and pureness of that perfect stack would be broken. Knowing this did scrape a little against the pleasure of that new package of folding paper and that double-faced feeling never really left.
